Production Supervisor (food processing)

Employer: Fresh Start Foods

Job Location: 110-11188 Featherstone Way Richmond, BC V6W 1K9 

Salary: 

  • $58,240 - $64,064/year (salary increase based on annual performance review per company policy)

Terms and Conditions of Employment: Permanent, Full-Time (40h/week); Monday to Friday, occasional overtime may be required 

Work Setting: Fruit and vegetable manufacturing and processing plant

Work Site Environment: Cold/refrigerated, Wet/damp

Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible

Job requirements: 

  • Languages: English

  • Education: High school or equivalent 

  • Experience: 3 years of related experience 

  • Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots 

  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Handling heavy loads (up to 23kg/50lbs), Physically demanding, Standing for extended periods, Fast-paced environment, Repetitive tasks, Attention to detail

  • Personal Suitability: Team player and ability to work independently, Motivated, Organized, Problem-solving, Ability to multitask, Good communication skills, Efficient interpersonal skills, Client focus, Reliability

  • Ability to supervise: 30 workers (Food processing labourers, Food processing machine operators, etc.)

  • Technology used: Spreadsheet, emails, word processing and presentation software, internet applications. 

Duties:

  • Track and report on key metrics for production.

  • Measure and control product yields.

  • Work with product development to create items and assign costs.

  • Manage productivity, labour, and overtime.

  • Analyze production line processes and create process improvements.

  • Follow and maintain all Quality Assurance, HACCP, SQF requirements, and Occupational Health & Safety regulations and ensure all employees under their department follow all the regulations.

  • Complete all required training (e.g., Leadership, Equipment, and Operational), ensure employees’ adherence to company practices and procedures, and apply corrective action when needed.

  • Plan staff break time schedules. 

  • Conduct interviews, hires, trains, and retains staff. 

  • Perform performance monitoring (e.g., Probationary, Annual Evaluation, and Performance Objectives) of staff.

  • Initiate follow-through with disciplinary action and termination in consultation with Human Resources when appropriate for the department.

  • Perform other related duties as required
