Job Overview:
The Ujima Leadership Development Fellowship is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Program Lead to guide the delivery and growth of a high-impact youth leadership initiative. This role is ideal for a skilled program professional who thrives at the intersection of community engagement, program operations, and stakeholder collaboration.
As Program Lead, you will take ownership of the end-to-end delivery of the fellowship program, supporting participants from recruitment through placement while ensuring strong partnerships, fiscal accountability, and measurable outcomes. You will play a critical role in shaping participant experiences and strengthening pathways into meaningful employment opportunities across sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Delivery
Lead the successful implementation of the Ujima Fellowship program across Edmonton and Calgary
Oversee participant intake, application review, selection, and onboarding processes
Ensure program milestones, deliverables, and timelines are consistently met
Maintain high-quality program documentation, tracking systems, and reporting processes
Participant & Employer Engagement
Build and sustain strong relationships with employers across private, public, and non-profit sectors to secure placement opportunities
Support prospective applicants by providing clear guidance on program eligibility and requirements
Coach and prepare participants for applications, interviews, and workplace success
Monitor participant progress throughout placements, providing ongoing support and troubleshooting as needed
Operations & Financial Management
Coordinate day-to-day program operations to ensure efficient and effective delivery
Monitor program budgets and expenditures, ensuring alignment with approved funding and addressing variances proactively
Work closely with Finance and leadership to maintain financial accuracy and accountability
Stakeholder Relations & Reporting
Collaborate with internal teams, including Communications and Evaluation, to ensure strong program visibility and performance tracking
Prepare and contribute to quarterly and final reports, highlighting program activities, outcomes, and impact
Support continuous improvement by contributing to program design, curriculum updates, and evaluation processes
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., social sciences, community development, education, or related discipline)
Minimum 3 years of experience in program coordination or management, preferably in a non-profit or community-based environment
Demonstrated experience managing budgets, reporting, and multi-stakeholder projects
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage diverse communities and partners
Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools
Experience in community development, workforce development, or social services is considered an asset
Additional Requirements
Ability to work 40 hours per week, including occasional evenings and weekends
Willingness to travel between Edmonton and Calgary
Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
