The Community Housing Program Manager is responsible for program development, service delivery, evaluation, and reporting, as well as the allocation of staff and financial resources for Alpha House’s Community Housing Program. This program supports clients across Calgary, many of whom have experienced homelessness and are living with addiction or mental health challenges. In this role, your responsibilities would include:
Leading the planning and management of the program, ensuring housing units are fully occupied and appropriately staffed
Developing and maintain strong relationships with agencies, stakeholders, landlords, neighbours, and community members
Lead, train, and coach Team Leads, who in turn support front-line staff
Act as a liaison between Alpha House and funders, including writing reports and supporting funding proposals
Oversee the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and safety protocols
Interview and hire staff, and support Team Leads in delivering consistent training, performance management, and feedback
Ensure compliance with accreditation standards, policies, and procedures through regular program audits
Oversee accurate and timely collection of client documentation and program data
Respond to emergencies, complete incident reporting, and lead staff debriefings
Address landlord, community, and client concerns, implementing improvements where needed
Ensure the program is adequately resourced while maintaining fiscal responsibility
Provide direct service support as needed to address staffing gaps
Participate in an on-call rotation and support agency-wide initiatives and orientations
About You
We are looking for an experienced leader to join our team at Alpha House. The ideal candidate would have the following:
Post-secondary education in a relevant field from a public institution (minimum 2-year diploma or bachelor’s degree)
Several years of experience working with vulnerable populations, including front-line experience
Strong understanding of addiction, harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and recovery-oriented practices
Proven leadership experience, including coaching, training, and performance management
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders
Sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to handle sensitive situations with confidentiality and diplomacy
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and adapt in a dynamic environment
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office
A valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
A strong understanding of and commitment to Alpha House’s mission
