Project Control Specialist - PL#65852

Peter Lucas Project Management invests in people, community, and cutting-edge technology to provide gold standard project delivery. We are currently looking for a Project Control Specialist to join our team.

This role is responsible for supporting the successful planning, execution, and closeout of projects by overseeing cost control, scheduling, forecasting, and reporting activities. The ideal candidate will collaborate with project managers, engineering teams, and finance to ensure performance metrics align with budget, timeline, and scope expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain project schedules using tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
• Monitor and analyze project budgets and expenditures; support cost forecasting and variance analysis.
• Prepare project performance reports including earned value management (EVM), progress tracking, and risk exposure.
• Work with procurement and contract teams to ensure vendor commitments align with project timelines and financial controls.
• Identify schedule and cost risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Support change management processes by analyzing impacts of scope, schedule, or cost changes.
• Coordinate input from engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure consistent project control practices.
• Participate in project reviews, audits, and lessons-learned sessions.
• Maintain compliance with internal controls, client requirements, and industry standards.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in project controls within a technical, construction, or industrial setting.
• Proficiency with scheduling and cost control software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, Excel, SAP, EcoSys, or similar).
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communicator, capable of presenting data and insights to various stakeholders.
• Familiarity with project delivery frameworks (EPC, FEL, stage-gate processes) is an asset.
• Experience in mining, oil & gas, utilities, or heavy industry preferred.
