Project Controls & Construction Coordinator Position – Option Excavating

Overview:

The Project Controls & Construction Coordinator in the Energy Division will support pipeline, maintenance, and heavy civil projects. This is a hybrid role (office, field, and remote)

• Experience in construction coordination, project controls, estimating, scheduling, working with the estimating team and project planning in the energy, heavy civil sector.


• Work closely with construction management, project management, procurement teams, operations and field staff to ensure projects are constructible, well-resourced, and aligned with scheduling and execution plans.


• Key responsibilities include supporting estimating and pre-construction efforts, reviewing RFPs/RFQs, identifying risks and constructability issues, and assisting in preparing bid documentation.


• Assist in developing manpower plans, creating Construction Execution Plans (CEPs), and aligning work breakdown structures (WBS) with project schedules and controls. In procurement and logistics, you’ll coordinate deliveries, manage rentals and vendor relations, and track costs and resource availability.


• Strong communication and documentation skills, including maintaining accurate records of budgets, POs, change orders, and vendor interactions. You’ll provide administrative and field support by assisting with submittals, safety documentation, billing, closeout packages, turnover packages and participating in project and safety meetings.


• Strong understanding of construction processes in the energy sector. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Bluebeam, MS Project, Amsio, and Primavera is essential.


• Field experience around pipeline, mechanical/piping or civil construction, along with knowledge of WIP forecasting and construction scheduling, and cost controls.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the planning and execution of construction projects from inception to completion.


• Coordinate project schedules, resources, equipment, and information.


• Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to facilitate project understanding.


• Utilize construction management software such as Amsio and Bluebeam for documentation and tracking.


• Collaborate with project managers to prepare estimates and budgets using tools like Projects and Primavera P6.


• Maintain communication with stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and team members to ensure project alignment.


• Monitor project progress and provide updates on timelines and deliverables.


• Organize meetings, take minutes, and follow up on action items to ensure accountability.

Skills

• Proficient in blueprint reading and understanding construction schematics is a bonus.


• Familiarity with project management tools including Projects, Bluebeam, Primavera P6.


• Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.


• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.


• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.


• Knowledge of turnover packages in the pipeline and facility sector.


• Knowledge of construction processes and best practices in construction management.
