Reporting to the Senior Project Coordinator; the Project Coordinator supports the Department to promptly and efficiently respond to the needs of its staff and Programs by developing the non-IT materials and resources (e.g., curriculum resources, program materials, and other materials) required as part of effective delivery of departmental services/supports across Nunavut. In so doing, the Project Coordinator ensures Nunavut’s students (K-12, early learning, French education, and adult), educators, and departmental staff are positioned for success through the development of culturally relevant and appropriate materials which clearly, concisely, and accurately convey their intended message. 

This position ensures that the Department is sufficiently able to respond to the requirements outlined in the Education Act and Regulations, the Curriculum Renewal Plan, Education Program Content Development Directive and any other applicable legislation, policies, directives, Memorandums of Understanding, contribution agreements, etc.

The main responsibilities of the Project Coordinator are, but are not limited to:

• Contributing to the development of policies and procedures to help guide the work carried out by the Division, developing and designing resources, materials, etc., following the established resource development pathway
• ng current with research and resource/material development theory and sharing/promoting that information with other staff and undertaking inter-jurisdictional research to identify best practices in the design/development of resources and materials.
• Maintaining an active/up-to-date list of contractors, designers, printers, etc. and making that list available ensuring that projects remain within budget and are completed within allotted time.
• Engaging with departmental staff, educators, etc. to assess the impact of existing resources/materials and identifying areas of need, opportunities, both within and external to the Resource Services Division, to enhance service delivery.
• Ensuring resources and materials align to legislation (e.g., Education Act), policies, directives, IQ principles/Inuit Societal Values, working with Culture and Heritage Advisors and others (e.g., Elders Advisory Council) to ensure resources and materials are culturally appropriate.
• Informing the Senior Project Coordinator and the Director, Resource Services of issues that require their attention.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a recognized post-secondary certificate in the field of Education, Media Studies, a recognized National Certificate or a related field plus three (3) years of related work experience in warehouse operations. Valid First Aid Certification. Familiarity with the Connected North platform is considered an asset. This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
