Project Engineering Coordinator (Earthworks)

Wood has an opportunity for an Earthworks Project Engineer to work on our Project Construction site near Gogama, ON with an international team during the construction phase of a Gold Mining Project. This role will be responsible for providing engineering and construction support on our EPC/EPCM project.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the Area Project Manager with the management of EPCM performance specific to all activities planned for a project area by:

• Coordinate the execution of engineering, contracts and procurement, construction and/or project controls activities for the area or a sub-area(s)
• Ensure all required data and information for the area or a sub-area(s) is made available to the project team
• Define the scopes of construction, services and procurement contracts for the area or a sub-area(s)
• Compile construction contract packages and/or site services contract packages, if necessary
• Participate in the selection of suppliers and contractors
• Supporting the preparation and maintenance of the project schedule for the area or a sub-area(s)
• Support the assessment of engineering, procurement and/or construction progress for the area or a sub-area(s) within the overall project schedule and identify mitigations should actual and/or forecast schedule performance deviate from planned
• Coordinate the preparation of periodic cost forecasts for the area or a sub-area(s) or for a specific contract
• Participate in and coordinate the management of change process for the area or a sub-area(s) by informing the necessary parties and preparing the necessary change management documentation
• Coordinate with and support home office for design changes
• Participate in quality assurance audits
• Provide input to the identification of risks and support the management of risks for an area or sub-area(s)

• Minimum of 10 years engineering or operations experience focusing on heavy industrial projects including at least 2 years in a project engineering role
• Professional Engineering License (P. Eng) in the Province of Ontario or eligibility to register with the PEO will be an advantage
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Ability to work with people at all levels
• Effective organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
• Strong track record of successful project completion
• Experience in major civil and earthworks construction projects inclusive of
  • Tailings Management Facilities (TMF)
  • Dams
  • Water Realignment Channels
• Experience in Mineral Mining projects will be an advantage
• The role will largely be site-based. Given this, applicants need to be familiar with standard camp accommodation and rules
• Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
