Reporting to the Director, Exploration, the Project Geologist – Exploration will support Denison’s exploration and project evaluation team in advancing our portfolio of uranium projects in the Athabasca Basin. The role will primarily focus on planning and executing exploration programs across Denison’s projects, including the flagship Wheeler River Project. This is a full-time position based in Saskatoon with frequent travel to exploration sites. This role will involve a combination of office-based work in Saskatoon and on-site work during field seasons.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan and execute Denison’s exploration programs in the Athabasca Basin
Coordinate projects with various internal groups and ensure projects are delivered safely, in a timely manner, and within budget guidelines
Generate drill targets, collaborate on drillhole planning and permitting, execute drill programs, and ensure the collection of quality geological data
Provide leadership and mentoring to geologists and field technicians
Maintain good relations with the communities within which we work
Complete planning, execution, and project evaluation reporting and documentation, adhering to program timelines.
Ensure that all geoscientific data collected is stored appropriately
Coordinate drill pad and trail preparation, spotting and stopping holes, and rig moves
Develop geological interpretations and models in collaboration with geoscience and geophysical staff
Complete data compilation to support ongoing and upcoming exploration activities
Requirements
You are an experienced exploration geologist with strong technical and analytical skills and the ability to work effectively in both office and field environments. In addition, you bring:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology, or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution
5+ years of relevant experience in mineral exploration; Athabasca Basin uranium exploration experience is an asset
Registration as a Professional Geologist within Canada (P. Geo. or P. Geol) is required
Strong understanding of unconformity-related uranium deposits, structural geology, geochemistry, and geophysical methods
Experience developing geological maps and cross-sections using subsurface data
Proficiency with GIS applications and 3D modelling software (Leapfrog etc.)
Experience with project management, budgeting, and coordinating technical work
Ability to work independently in remote locations for extended periods
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with employees, contractors, and vendors
Proficiency with MS Office
Valid driver’s license
