The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Project Manager to join our growing Geospatial team in Vancouver as a member of the Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) Services Division. This is a great opportunity for a motivated individual who wants to take the next step leading drone-focused project teams and who has a passion for RPAS operations in Canada. This role is ideal for someone who is looking for an expanded opportunity in the drone space focusing on project management, while maintaining technical capabilities, communication skills, business development, and bringing technological innovation to clients.

As this position is part of our Vancouver Branch, preference will be given to local candidates. Consideration will be given to candidates that may be based elsewhere in Canada with the opportunity to work remote and can travel to Vancouver as needed.

Salary Range : $86,000-$125,000 Per Annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.

What You’ll Be Doing:

You will manage all aspects of RPAS-centric projects, including, but not limited to, bidding on new projects, managing the technical aspects to meet client requirements, controlling the budgets, and ensuring quality deliverables.

  • Oversee the production of deliverables and technical reports.
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team (RPAS Services Division) and provide mentorship and guidance to field and geospatial office staff.
  • Assist Senior Project Managers on larger scale projects and with business development initiatives!
  • Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing clients and work to develop new business opportunities and strategic relationships.
  • Arrange invoices for clients and track agreed client budgets, communicate and manage change order requests, and work with clients to ensure timely payment.
  • Chair regular project meetings with clients and internal staff.
  • Coordinate with other team members and monitor project progress to ensure schedules, budgets and quality control standards are achieved.
  • Provide leadership in safety and quality management practices.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Diploma or Degree in a geospatial related fields such as geomatics engineering, surveying, remote sensing, photogrammetry, or Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
  • 5+ years of experience in a geospatial role.
  • 3+ years of project management experience.
  • Experience leading or overseeing drone operations and the related data deliverables
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Previous experience with proposal writingis an asset
  • Having a PEng or LS or eligible to apply is an asset
  • High productivity, attention to detail, and an ability to work well as a team player.
