POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Property Maintenance Manager, the Property Maintenance Foreman oversees the maintenance and upkeep of the Calgary Dream Centre buildings and properties, ensuring the safety, functionality, and comfort of all clients, staff, and residents. This role involves supervising maintenance operations, evaluating building systems (electrical, HVAC, elevators, plumbing), managing infrastructure (doors, windows, walls, roofs), and coordinating groundskeeping activities. The Property Foreman ensures work is completed efficiently, assets are well-maintained, and residents are treated with respect.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Property Foreman is responsible for directing maintenance activities and property assessments while supervising and coordinating a maintenance team. The role requires the ability to work independently and within a team, manage multiple projects, and ensure maintenance tasks are completed safely and on schedule.
Key responsibilities include:
Supervise and perform a variety of general maintenance tasks, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, appliance repair, painting, and drywall work
Coordinate and liaise with contractors and tradespeople for emergency and planned projects
Implement and monitor preventative maintenance programs
Conduct regular inspections of buildings and grounds to ensure all areas are functional and well-maintained
Plan, prioritize, and schedule work orders efficiently in collaboration with the Facility Manager and maintenance team
Maintain assigned vehicles, tools, equipment, and supplies in proper working condition
Ensure work sites are clean, organized, and comply with safety standards
Monitor and report repair or replacement needs for equipment, vehicles, or building systems to the Operations Manager
Lead and participate in renovation or special projects as assigned
Train, mentor, and support maintenance staff in daily operations and best practices
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 3 years of combined education and/or experience in building operations, trades, or related fields
Must have 3 years' worth of insurance history and a valid driver's license.
Proficiency in one or more of the following areas:
Electrical
HVAC
Boiler Operation
Plumbing
Carpentry
Painting
Drywall installation, mudding, and taping
Strong organizational, planning, and leadership skills
Ability to work independently and supervise a team effectively
Knowledge of safety regulations and property management best practices
