Job Description

De Beers Group has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and energetic individual to join the Protective Service Team at the Gahcho Kué Mine Site based in the Northwest Territories. Reporting to the Protective Services Supervisor, the incumbent will be responsible for day-to-day security, ensuring the protection of people, product, and property at the Gahcho Kué site. This is a contract position until June 2027. 

The successful candidate will be performing search activities, on-site investigations, video surveillance, access control, providing escorts, reporting risks and suggesting improvements to ensure the general safety and security of the mine site. The ideal candidate is one who is committed to safe working practices and strives for zero harm.

Key responsibilities:

  • Committing to the mine’s safety, health and environmental programs;
  • Overseeing the activities of employees and contractors to ensure the integrity, safety and security of those on site;
  • Conducting local surveillance and access control in coordination with the Protective Services Intelligence Operations Centre;
  • Coordinating, reviewing and/or conducting investigations related to security or protective services;
  • Completing threat, vulnerability and risk identifications as required;
  • Conducting searches of employees and property;
  • Operating CCTV, Ion Scanner, and X-Ray equipment;
  • Assisting in coaching Protective Services Officials (PSO) trainees; and
  • Communicating new and amended policies to mine personnel.

Qualifications

  • Ability to prove your commitment to Safety, Health and Environment;
  • Experience operating CCTV, access control and X-Ray equipment;
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office applications;
  • Experience in investigations or intelligence operations;
  • Experience in a cross-cultural work environment;
  • Experience in working at a remote mine site;
  • Strong conflict resolution skills are essential;
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; and
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.

Desirable Assets:

  • Formal corrections/police/security/military training from an accredited institution;
  • Experience in CCTV, Lenel and Perspective;
  • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience and one (1) year minimum of experience within a Control Room/Dispatch setting.
