Psychiatrist - AMHSP Education Leader (23-EMHC-PSY-AMHSP-20)

Alberta Health Services Department of Addictions & Mental Health, in partnership with the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, and Department of Psychiatry, is  inviting applications from psychiatrists to work as a primary clinician educator and some psychiatric clinical work with adult or child-adolescent community mental health on a multi-disciplinary team. Our multi-disciplinary teams consisting of psychiatry, nursing, psychology, occupational therapy, social work, education, speech-language pathology provide assistance for more than 1.4 million people in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region.

The key area of strategic value would be a Clinician Educator with experience in psychiatry residency program leadership. They will be granted a Clinical Faculty Appointment in the Department of Psychiatry, University of Alberta. The projected time for this Clinical Educator role can be from 0.3 to 0.6 FTE, which is negotiable.

Adult psychiatry community mental health teams are diverse with numerous options that include working in urgent and intensive psychiatric care at Access 24/7, general adult mental health clinics with multi-disciplinary teams, assertive community treatment, youth and young adult mental health, supportive living homes, addiction medicine, and in shared care models with primary care. Child and Adolescent Psychiatry positions include tertiary-level psychiatric consultations to children and youth who are triaged into the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Neuropsychiatry and Specialty Clinics, at the East Edmonton Mental Health Clinic, or suburban Child and Adolescent mental health clinics.

Qualifications:

Candidates must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Psychiatry and preferably have subspecialty certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She/he must also be licensed with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
