Psychiatry - Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist

Brightshores Health System (Brightshores) is currently seeking a full-time Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our team of dedicated Psychiatrists. This is an exciting opportunity to expand the scope of our Schedule One Adult Psychiatric facility.

Brightshores is a local leader of innovative treatment programs for the acute and chronically mentally ill, servicing a catchment area of over 170,000 residents across Grey and Bruce counties. Our goal is to keep children and adolescents requiring comprehensive care closer to home. Brightshores is in the final stages of developing a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Program in collaboration with community and regional partners.

This new model of care will provide both outpatient and inpatient services for children and adolescents. Ourmental health community is very committed to developing an integrated service utilizing resources from the hospital, schools and community partners such as Keystone Child, Youth & Family Services (http://www.keystonebrucegrey.org/ ). This is a great opportunity for a physician wishing to play a leadership role in our organization. Administrative and clinical support will be provided.

Brightshores-Owen Sound is located on the beautiful shores of Georgian Bay, minutes away from Lake Huron and just a short 2 hour drive from the Toronto airport. Qualifications: FRCP(C) or eligibility to practice medicine in Ontario.

About the Psychiatry Department:

Brightshores’ eleven psychiatrists, based at the Owen Sound hospital, support the Schedule 1 inpatient service and provide consultation to three community-based multi-agency mental health teams. The psychiatrists support a comprehensive range of ambulatory programs including the Crisis Team, Community Outreach Treatment Team, the Assertive Community Treatment Team, Psychogeriatric assessment and treatment, Dual Diagnosis and Aftercare Services. Brightshores recently won the Canadian Mental Health Association’s national Best Practice Award. The Ministry of Health has approved funding for the development of a child and adolescent program.
