Job Description - Psychotherapist, DTE HART Hub

Position: Psychotherapist, Downtown East HART Hub


Job Type: 40 hours/week; Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm


Salary: $76,004.28 plus benefits and pension


This posting is to fill one vacant position



Position Description


The Psychotherapist works as part of a multi-disciplinary team with a set of responsibilities that include supporting service users with intakes for Program and Hub services. The Psychotherapist assists the Director of Clinical Programs and Services with the delivery of the Psychotherapy program within the Downtown East HART Hub, providing individual and group psychotherapy.



Homelessness and Addictions Recovery Treatment Hubs (HART Hubs) are funded by the province as a three-year demonstration project. The target client population are those with complex service needs (i.e. those experiencing homelessness, substance use, mental health, social service support needs and unemployment).
The Regent Park CHC HART Hub is co-led with Fred Victor and the Downtown East Toronto Ontario Health Team (DET OHT). This HART Hub is designed to provide comprehensive support to individuals by offering primary healthcare, intensive case management, and other services. This Hub will operate using a Hub and Spoke model, with Spoke services available at eight partner locations.



The key responsibilities of the Psychotherapist include:
•weekly individual sessions with complex clients
•facilitation and co-facilitation of DBT or other therapy groups
•weekly attendance at one or more case conferences;
•working with other service providers to ensure continuity of care;
•utilizing our Client Management System to its full capacity for admission, case notes, discharge and management of the client file;
•working with the Director and Program Manager on design and implementation issues;
•liaising with community and allied services, resources, partners and referral sources.



Additionally, the Psychotherapist’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•conducting formal assessments in the areas of substance use and other health issues;
•facilitating other psychosocial group programs on an as-needed basis;
•brief interventions;
•information/health promotion;
•supporting with additional Program tasks as needed.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
•Demonstrated experience in program delivery and group facilitation.
•Knowledge of a broad range of psychoeducational and psychotherapeutic modalities.
•Comprehensive knowledge of issues related to addiction, concurrent disorder, mental health, trauma and recovery.
•Knowledge of the spectrum of harm reduction and abstinence approaches to problematic substance use.
•Understanding of and commitment to health equity, diversity and inclusivity.
•Strong skills with Client Management Systems.
•Demonstrated ability to integrate current best practice and research evidence to support professional practice decisions and actions.
•Extensive knowledge and skills in assessment, supportive counseling, psychotherapy, case coordination/management and brief-intervention skills.
•Experience and skills working with individuals affected by poverty, violence, homelessness, institutionalization (incarceration), stigma, racism and/or homophobia/transphobia.
•Knowledge of the impact of social/cultural/economic factors on the determinants of health.
•Knowledge, understanding and sensitivity to the complexity of issues arising for individuals who have experienced homelessness, addictions, poverty and/or mental illness.
•Ability to work collaboratively within and across interdisciplinary teams and community partners.
•Ability to work with clients presenting with a wide range of mental health issues.
•Demonstrated flexibility, sound judgment, initiative and creativity.
•Demonstrated capacity to thrive and engage in a dynamic and changing work environment.
•Experience working within an anti-oppression and trauma informed framework.
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
•Proficiency in the use of computers and various software applications.



Qualifications:
•Graduate degree in Psychotherapy, Counselling Psychology, or equivalent education and related work experience.
•Membership in good standing of a regulated health profession permitted to conduct the Controlled Act of Psychotherapy; the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario strongly preferred.
•Demonstrated experience in screening and assessment, supportive counseling, case coordination/management and brief intervention.
•Demonstrated experience in motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy.
•Demonstrated experience with group development, facilitation and evaluation.
•Additional training in screening, assessment and treatment related to concurrent disorder and trauma an asset.
•Proficiency and ability to work in both French and English is an asset.
•Ability to work in a language in addition to English is an asset.
