QA/QC Regulatory Officer

Role Overview

Our client is seeking a QA/QC Regulatory Officer to establish and maintain strong quality-management and regulatory-compliance systems across its North American manufacturing operations.

The role has an important cross-border component, ensuring products manufactured in Canada meet applicable technical, safety, traceability and certification requirements for both the Canadian and United States markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain QA/QC systems for manufactured explosive products and detonators.
  
• Ensure products are appropriately tested, certified and traceable.
  
• Develop sampling procedures and quality-control documentation.
  
• Monitor testing and inspection of raw materials and finished products.
  
• Conduct and document internal quality audits.
  
• Manage regulatory alignment between Canadian and U.S. requirements.
  
• Support approvals and certification of new products.
  
• Maintain regulatory documentation required for cross-border market access.
  
• Support compliance relating to NRCan/ERD, ATF, DOT and MSHA requirements.
  
• Conduct root-cause analysis and continuous-improvement initiatives.
  
• Support supplier quality management.
  
• Develop QA procedures and control sheets.
  
• Analyse quality statistics and identify improvement opportunities.
  
• Reduce rework, scrap and production downtime through stronger quality controls.
  
• Prepare technical and management reports.
  
• Support product equivalency and U.S. market-entry approvals.
  
• Assist in transferring technical and quality expertise into North American operations.
  

Minimum Requirements

• Degree or BTech in one of the following or a related discipline:
  • Industrial Engineering
    
  • Chemistry
    
  • Mathematics
    
  • Statistics
    
• Minimum 3 years' QA/QC or relevant quality experience.
  
• Strong attention to detail.
  
• Ability to interpret and implement quality procedures.
  
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  
• Ability to operate independently.
  
• Strong analytical capability and computer literacy.
  

Advantageous

• Six Sigma certification or practical Six Sigma exposure.
  
• Project-management experience.
  
• Experience within explosives, chemicals, mining or regulated manufacturing.
  
• Previous exposure to Canadian or U.S. product certification/regulatory processes.

This position would suit a quality professional who is comfortable operating between manufacturing quality, regulatory compliance and technical product certification, rather than someone whose experience is limited to routine inspection.
