Job Description - Quality Control Technician

BURNCO is seeking a full time seasonal aggregate Quality Control Technician based in Parkland County west of Edmonton, Alberta.  Reporting directly to the Quality Control Supervisor, you will be responsible for collection and testing of daily aggregate production samples for crushing and washing plants at various sites across Central and Northern Alberta.


The ideal candidate will possess prior experience testing in an aggregate production environment, or testing experience in the construction materials industry.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Collect production samples

  • Complete required aggregate testing (moisture content, sieve analysis, percent fracture, organic impurities)

  • Timely entry and reporting of test results to operations and quality management

  • Document site activities, deficiencies, and NCR’s

  • Report product deficiencies to supervisor or delegate for immediate action

  • Inspect stockpiled materials and load out procedures

  • Maintain and contribute to a safe working environment


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Previous experience testing in an aggregate production environment

  • Familiarity with CSA and ASTM testing standards

  • Candidates who have or are working toward a C.E.T. designation


Required Qualifications:



  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills

  • Able to work under variable weather conditions

  • Heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs)

  • Class 5 license with a relatively clean abstract

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and collaboratively as part of the team

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high pace environment


Work Conditions:



  • Field based

  • Rotational travel, nightshifts, and weekend work potentially required


 


IMPORTANT:  As a safety sensitive position, it is a condition of employment that the selected candidate successfully pass comprehensive pre-employment testing that includes a Drug and Alcohol screen and Fitness to Work testing.  Please note that we have a zero-tolerance policy for any Cannabis derived products regardless of use frequency or purpose.
