Job Description - Queens Equity Workshop Series Co-Chairs (2)

Honoraria Position
QEWS’s mandate is to provide a safe and multifaceted forum for students to engage with topics of anti-oppression. QEWS’s approach values various methods of discussion that explore several social issues, and the intersections that exist among each of these issues. Workshop topics can include but are not limited to environmental justice, privilege, gender identification, patriarchy, sexual orientation, sexual assault, disability, mental health, culture, ethnicity, race, and religion. The QEWS Co-chairs will work together to hire workshop series committee members, whom they will work with to plan and execute the workshops during the 2025/26 school year.

*Eligible candidates must have paid the Arts & Science Undergraduate Membership Fee

This position will be available until April 5th at 4pm.

12-month term from May 1st, 2024 to April 30th, 2025 with a time commitment of 5 hours/week

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Throughout the summer months, work with the Equity Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner to create the Workshop Series' Strategic Plan and budget. This includes deciding the theme and topics to be covered during the 2025/26 conference
  • Meet with and report to the Equity Commissioner on a weekly basis and to be responsible to the Equity Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner
  • Recruit and hire committee members for the workshop series
  • Hold and organize committee meetings in order to plan all details pertaining to the workshop series
  • Prepare meeting agenda and meeting minutes for each committee meeting
  • Follow all ASUS policy as outlined in the ASUS Policy Manual
  • Complete evaluations and attend evaluations meeting
  • Complete a transition manual for the incoming Chair(s) and ASUS in accordance with the ASUS Transition Policy as seen in Section C-5 of the Policy Manual
