The Queen's Engineering Sustainable Solutions and Technologies (QUESST) competition is an exciting initiative designed to foster a culture of innovation and equip Queen's students with the skills and drive to tackle pressing global challenges. By participating, students are not only indulging in academic design but are engaging deeply with real-world problems centered around sustainability. The event uniquely bridges theory with practice, allowing students to apply their classroom-acquired knowledge in tangible ways, driving them to think critically whilst participating in some friendly competition. QUESST also offers a platform for professional growth as participants will connect with industry experts, gaining invaluable mentorship and networking opportunities. By emphasizing teamwork and multifaceted problem-solving, QUESST not only nurtures technical proficiency but also interpersonal skills and cross-disciplinary understanding.
We are currently looking for 2 enthusiastic individuals to join our executive team as First Year Representatives for QUESST 2025.
As a First Year Rep, you’ll have a unique opportunity to see how all aspects of the competition come together while contributing meaningfully to the planning process. You’ll work alongside different members of the executive team, gaining valuable experience and making connections across Queen’s.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with the Logistics Team to support competition operations
- Working with the Delegates Director to enhance the delegate experience
- Engaging first-year students through outreach initiatives
- Assisting the Culture Coordinator in planning team bonding events
The Ideal Candidate Should Have the Following Qualities:
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Passion and enthusiasm
- An interest in sustainability and innovation
Time Commitment:
1–2 hours per week (maximum) leading up to the competition weekend in November.
Hiring Timeline:
Interviews will take place between September 22–26, either virtually or in person depending on availability.
