Job Description - Radio Field Technician

Radio Field Technician 
Musselwhite Mine 
 
Orla Mining is striving to be the emerging gold producer of choice with a geographically diversified asset base, a prospective development and exploration portfolio, an experienced management team with a successful track record, and a high-quality board and shareholder base. 
 
Orla operates the Camino Rojo Oxide Gold Mine, a gold and silver open-pit heap leach mine, located in Zacatecas State, Central Mexico. This low-cost operation is 100% owned by Orla, covers over 139,000 hectares, and includes a large sulphide mineral endowment located beneath the oxide resources. We are also advancing permitting and development on our South Railroad Project, a feasibility-stage, open-pit heap leach project located on the prolific Carlin trend in Nevada. This project is part of our larger South Carlin Complex, which includes a prospective land package. We recently acquired the Musselwhite Mine located in Northern Ontario on Lake Opapimiskan, a gold mine with more than 25 years of operating history. The addition of Musselwhite has allowed Orla to more than double our gold production and provide strategic entry into a Tier 1 mining jurisdiction. The Musselwhite Mine is highly prospective with potential to expand resources and mine life for years to come.

Purpose 
We are recruiting for a Radio Field Technician within the site Electrical Department. This is an onsite role that will be responsible for support and maintenance of all the leaky feeder systems to ensure consistent radio communications, tracking, and network infrastructure, throughout the surface and underground. Ensuring adequate communication standards, compliances, and system expansions as the mine expands. This role will report to the Electrical Supervisor, work closely with ITT, and will be key to the success of the expansion, advancement, and enhancement of underground systems. 
 
Responsibilities include: 
• Install, commission, and maintain underground communications systems and technology, including: 



o Program, deploy and maintain all two-way radio system components. 
o Configure, deploy and maintain underground leaky feeder and tracking systems.     
o Program, maintain and deploy pagers and paging systems. 



• Deploy IT/OT network equipment, UPSes and various other technologies underground. 
• Plan all communications systems expansions including: Amplifiers, Power Supplies, Branches. 
• Diagnose and repair faults in radios, cabling, connectors, power supplies. 
• Work with electrical to ensure leaky feeder signal coverage and quality through the mine. 
• Work with ITT to ensure network coverage/functionality through the mine 
• Support mine operations by responding promptly to communication failures or outages. 
• Assist with system upgrades, expansions, and technology improvements. 
• Fiber optic splicing, terminations and patching. 
•  Work closely with mining operations, IT and E&I teams. 



Skills and Experience:  
• Trade qualification or diploma in Electronics, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or related field.  
• Effective communication skills. 
• Ability to work independently and part of a team. 
• Skilled in troubleshooting, understanding of communication concepts.  
• Prior mining or industrial experience is required. 
• Computer literacy. Advanced computer literacy is an asset. 
 
Working Conditions 
• The Musselwhite gold mine in northwestern Ontario is a fly-in, fly out operation and the schedule for this position will consist of 14 days on and 14 days off, 12 hours per day. 
 
Compensation: 
• The salary for this position is $130,960 to $143,703 per year, depending on skills, experience, and qualifications. 
• The Company offers a Defined Contribution Pension Plan (DCPP), including an automatic 5% employer contribution, with the option for employees to receive up to an additional 4% employer match on employee contributions.
