Lafarge Construction provides Construction services in the City of Edmonton and surrounding areas. Lafarge Construction is based in Edmonton, AB and is currently seeking a seasonal, full-time Mixer Operator

Position Description
The accountabilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Health and Safety: Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas. Ensure all aspects of his/her role are executed in a safe manner. Obey safety guidelines when on when on public roads, construction sites and operations.
  • Environment: Establish the environment as a priority in daily activities and act as a steward to the environment. Demonstrate a commitment to meet or exceed environmental compliance.
  • Customer Focus: Ensure good customer relations. Collect payment for materials when required. Must be able to communicate effectively and positively with customers. Assist other drivers at the job site and plant when necessary.
  • Delivery & Production: Maneuver truck into loading or unloading positions, by following all best practices to include identifying all hazards and communicating with spotter. Loading and unloading chutes to distribute concrete while walking over a variety of terrain.
  • Truck Maintenance & Image: Perform daily Pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Check vehicle to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order. Responsible for the maintaining truck cleanliness and basic truck maintenance.
  • Communication & Reporting: Responsible for the documentation of material delivered. Maintain logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations. Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.


Relationships with Others Jobs

  • Reports to Ready Mix supervisor
  • Works closely with Batcher and Plant Personnel
  • Works closely with Quality Control, Sales, and Operations


Specific Accountabilities

  • Safety Performance objective is “Zero”


Qualifications:
Education & Work Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Preference will be given to those with construction and heavy equipment experience.
  • Ready Mix Concrete Training will be provided as needed.

Certifications & Licenses

  • Must have current & valid Class 1 or 3 Driver’s License with air brake endorsement.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Excellent customer service skills – dedicated to meeting the expectations of internal and external customers
  • Must be flexible and able to balance shifting priorities to meet deadlines
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills and the desire to seek solutions
  • Ability to maintain composure in all situations and not become defensive or irritated
  • Must be a strong team player and gain the trust and support of peers
  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to complete assignments in a timely manner
  • Must be timely with sharing information and provide the information people need to get things done and make decisions
  • Must have clean driving record as evidenced by current Drivers Abstract.
  • Knowledge of the City of Edmonton and surrounding area

In addition to the above, the successful candidate will be expected to exercise sound judgment, work safely and communicate effectively in a team. This position is physically demanding and requires crouching, bending, lifting, and kneeling. As such, clearance on a pre-employment medical is required. The successful candidate will have a proven record of following safe work procedures and be able to complete field risk assessments.
