Role Description & Purpose

Are you passionate about building strong partnerships and creating opportunities through education? We're looking for a Recognition Coordinator to help grow and strengthen relationships with Recognising Organisations and key stakeholders across the higher education sector.

Join the British Council as a Recognition Coordinator, Higher Education, and play a key role in expanding access to life-changing education and career opportunities around the world. Working closely with the Recognition Manager and Recognition Development Manager, you will provide key account management support for Recognising Organisations and government bodies, building strong partnerships and ensuring excellent customer experience across our recognition services.

The role provides opportunities to support strategic partner bids and tender processes, ensuring proposition integrity and relevance. You will work collaboratively with legal, commercial and delivery teams to develop scalable and repeatable partner models, translate propositions into compelling sales narratives, and create enablement materials including pitch decks, value stories, FAQs and objection-handling resources.

Acting as the interface between Proposition, Sales and Marketing, you will ensure a consistent customer message while establishing feedback mechanisms that continuously improve sales readiness, market adoption and partner success.

Role Accountabilities

In this role, you'll manage a portfolio of accounts, ensuring excellent service delivery while identifying opportunities to expand recognition of British Council products. You'll use data and insight to track performance, monitor progress against targets, and recommend actions that drive success and continuous improvement.

You will support the delivery and rollout of both new and existing services, helping to strengthen engagement and satisfaction among partners. As part of the Proposition team, you will contribute to the implementation of go-to-market plans in collaboration with Network and Marketing teams, while driving best-practice approaches, frameworks and playbooks that optimise market execution.

You'll represent the British Council in stakeholder meetings, presentations, negotiations and sector forums, building trusted relationships and championing our work. You'll also gather market intelligence, monitor sector developments and work closely with colleagues across Proposition, Sales, Marketing and Product teams to ensure a consistent and compelling message to customers.

We're looking for someone who can confidently lead initiatives, coordinate activity across multiple stakeholders and act as a key point of contact for operational matters. Qualifications & Experience

• To travel locally and overseas whenever required


• Must be prepared to attend and participate in regular team and stakeholder meetings during early hours of the morning

Essential

• Degree in Business or Education


• Strong knowledge of the global industry landscape and the British Council's E&E product portfolio.


• Proven success in key account management for global products or services, building and maintaining strategic relationships.


• Demonstrable experience delivering complex global products, services, or programmes to achieve business objectives.


• Proactive and innovative approach, generating creative solutions that deliver value for recognising organisations and the wider business.


• Skilled in market analysis, identifying growth opportunities, and responding effectively to changes in the external environment.


• Strategic thinker with the ability to translate insight into clear plans and deliver measurable business outcomes.


• Experience developing, negotiating, and managing global contracts, ensuring accountability and taking corrective action when required.

The British Council systems and global processes operate in English. Written and verbal proficiency in English is required.

Desirable

• Demonstrates evidence of successfully adding value to an established proposition


• Experience of working in the international higher education market

Important Information

• Location: Toronto, Canada (hybrid)


• Contract Type: this is a permanent, full-time position


• Annual Salary:  76,006.21 - 86,660.00 CAD


• Benefits: The British Council provides health care, dental care, long term disability benefits as well as life and accident insurance (the “Insurance Programme”). All employees must participate in the Insurance Programme, except those on fixed term contracts of less than one (1) year and those working fewer than 20 hours per week.
