Reporting to the Recreation Coordinator, the Recreation Centre Attendant is responsible for supporting the operations of the Haisla Nation Council’s Community Recreation Centre. This includes assisting in organizing and facilitating recreational activities, maintaining cleanliness and safety of the facility, and supporting the Recreation Manager in the delivery of community-based programs, to ensure a welcoming, safe and well-maintained facility for all community members.

We are about 2023+ people, with approximately 700 living in Kitamaat Village. We have lived off the land and waters of our traditional territory for thousands of years, and it remains the focus of all we do.
Duties & Responsibilities
Supervision of the weight-room and the gym floor.
General housekeeping and maintenance of the facility.
Assist in organizing, promoting, and facilitating recreational activities, events and programs as well as at Special Events.
Ensure all doors are securely locked, lights turned off and alarm set at the end of day.
Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences and behaviour (i.e. bullying, smoking etc.).
Check and stock First Aid Box.
Check and monitor the battery of the Defibrillator machine.
Perform regular routine inspections of the facility to identify and report any maintenance or safety issues.
Provide information about the Recreation centre’s program, schedules, and events.
Provide services in accordance with health and safety protocols and procedures.
Participate in relevant training and workshops to enhance program services.
Support the Recreation Coordinator with any administrative tasks as needed.
Other Duties as required.
Skills & Qualifications
High-school diploma or equivalent.
Building Maintenance Certificate preferred.
First Aid, Level 1 preferred.
Knowledge of heating and plumbing systems.
Experience working for a band government or Indigenous organization an asset.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations.
Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to handle complex and emotionally challenging situations.
Ability to establish and maintain respectful, cooperative and productive working relationships with a variety of individuals.
Valid BC driver’s license and own vehicle is an asset.
Satisfactory completion of criminal records check (with vulnerable sector screening if relevant).
Salary: $22.95/hr - $28.35/hr
