Job Description - Recreation Coordinator

We're currently seeking a Recreation Coordinator to join our team at Sidney Care, a beautifully renovated 54-resident care home nestled in the scenic community of Sidney, BC. If you’re energetic, compassionate, and creative, we’d love to meet you!

Your Role as a Recreation Coordinator

You’ll bring joy and engagement to residents' daily lives by:

  • Creating and leading programs in art, music, gardening, fitness, reading, and social events
  • Planning exciting monthly activity calendars and community outings
  • Collaborating with families, volunteers, and care staff to design meaningful experiences
  • Tracking participation and wellbeing, and reporting observations to clinical staff
  • Supporting residents during meal times and snack periods as needed
  • Recruiting, training, and organizing volunteers to enhance programming
  • Working within a set budget and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and joyful environment

What You Bring

  • Graduation from a recognized recreational therapy program or equivalent (experience considered)
  • At least 1 year of experience in a related role preferred
  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills
  • A collaborative spirit, energy, and creativity
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of the role

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM

About Sidney Care Home

Located in the heart of beautiful Sidney, BC, our community offers residents a warm, home-like setting just minutes from the waterfront. We partner with the Vancouver Island Health Authority to ensure the highest standards of care. Our recently renovated facility provides a welcoming space where both residents and staff can thrive.
