Position Type: Full-time, Parental Leave Coverage, 1-year term

Why Join Us?

Be part of a purpose-driven team dedicated to helping individuals launch meaningful careers in the skilled trades, supporting local employers, and strengthening our communities—all while enjoying flexibility, collaboration, and a competitive benefits package.

About Us

The Skilled Trades Employment Program (STEP) is BC's leading construction job-matching program, delivered by the BC Construction Association (BCCA). With a team of 11 Regional Employment Placement Specialists (REPS) across 8 regional offices, STEP connects skilled trades employers with job-ready candidates and helps individuals who are under-represented in the trades access apprenticeship opportunities.

The Opportunity

We’re hiring a Regional Employment Placement Specialist (REPS) for the Thompson/Nicola region, based out of Kamloops. In this dynamic, community-focused role, you’ll support individuals pursuing careers in the skilled trades by helping them become job ready and connecting them to apprenticeship opportunities.

You’ll also build relationships with employers, trades training providers, and local organizations to match job-ready candidates to opportunities in the construction sector. While you’ll work independently in your region, you’ll be supported by a collaborative and experienced provincial team.

What You’ll be Doing

·       Developing strong connections with local employers, educators, and service providers

·       Promoting STEP through presentations, outreach, and community engagement

·       Assessing job seekers for eligibility and helping them build tailored employment plans

·       Coaching participants on soft skills, interview preparation, and workplace expectations

·       Connecting candidates with meaningful trades employment

·       Conducting site visits and supporting employer-employee success on the job

·       Maintaining accurate files and reporting in line with program requirements

·       Representing STEP at community events and local initiatives

What You Bring

·       Understanding of BC’s apprenticeship system (SkilledTradesBC)

·       Knowledge of the regional construction sector and employment trends

·       Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills

·       Self-motivation with strong time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills

·       Familiarity with working efficiently both independently and as part of a team

·       Proficiency with Microsoft Office

·       Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable vehicle (travel is required)

·       Bonus: Experience in the construction industry, skilled trades, employment services, and/or journeyperson certification

What We Offer

·       Flexible hybrid remote work model

·       Extended health benefits, including dental, vision, and prescription

·       3 weeks of paid vacation to start

·       Health Spending Account and wellness benefits

·       RRSP matching

·       Employee & Family Assistance Program (EFAP)

·       Support for professional development and education

·       A collaborative and respectful workplace culture

·       The chance to make a meaningful impact in the future of construction in BC
