Description

Location - This part-time, 28-hour-a-week position works in-person at Kaye Edmonton Clinic.

The Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Mike Petryk School of Dentistry, is seeking a Registered Dental Assistant with orthodontic specialty experience. This role requires proficiency in all aspects of orthodontic assisting and the ability to apply these skills in an educational environment. The role works with orthodontic graduate students and faculty Orthodontists.

Your work will directly contribute to patient satisfaction, clinical efficiency, and the professional development of our future orthodontic specialists.



Responsibilities
  • Assist, mentor and support students, graduate students, orthodontists in the delivery of orthodontic care for the daily operation of the clinic.
  • Working within their scope of practice and using knowledge from Orthodontic Module to provide intra-oral care to patients during orthodontic treatment.
  • Proficiency with digital work flow including, but not limited to - Orthodontic software to support practice management and imaging (intraoral scanning, photographs and radiographs).
  • Responsible for daily / weekly general cleanliness of the clinic operatories
  • Facilitates emergency procedures and protocols


Qualifications
  • Diploma/Certificate from an accredited Dental Assisting Program or NDAEB Certification to include Orthodontic Module
  • Current registration with CADA and CDAA
  • Current CPR: Health Care Provider Level C certification; Knowledge of WHMIS
  • Three years, minimum, of previous RDA experience in an orthodontic specialty practice
  • Knowledge of dental materials management, dental instrumentation and dental equipment
  • Knowledge of Orthodontic software to support practice management and imaging needs; including photographs and radiographs.
  • Demonstrated skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and perform tasks accurately with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; meet deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
