Are you the one we’re looking for?



We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated Registered Early Childhood Educator who demonstrates our values of compassion, accountability, responsiveness and empowerment; to our clients, families and each other.



The Registered Early Childhood Educator delivers Early Years services in EarlyON Child and Family Centres and/or licensed child care programs.   



This position is a unionized, full-time, permanent position. The rate of pay is $18.65 per hour, the rate of pay varies between $23.65 - $26.65 based on eligible wage top ups available. Hours per week are 40. The shifts will cover program operating hours from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and all program operating days.



Key Responsibilities:




  1. Develop, plan, promote, implement, and evaluate day-to-day operations of the programs with the support of the Supervisor, Early Years, and other staff.

  2. Plan and implement programming based on the Ministry of Education’s pedagogy “How Does Learning Happen?”

  3. Create and maintain a safe learning environment that is responsive to the interests and needs of the children in the program.

  4. Be familiar with and adhere to licensing requirements per the Ministry of Education, Child Care and Early Years Act (2014) and ensure program needs are being met in compliance with program licensing requirements.

  5. Be familiar with and adhere to the EarlyON Child and Family Centre mandate, services and procedures.

  6. Provide current and relevant information to parents/caregivers about services in the community and at Wesley that may address their needs and make appropriate referrals as required.

  7. Facilitate engaging programs and/or workshops in the EarlyON Child and Family Centre.

  8. Welcome, support, and interact with clients, remembering to be sensitive to all families including those culturally diverse, LGBTQ, young parents, etc.

  9. Uphold all standards legislated by the Hamilton Board of Health, Fire Code, as well as the Ministry of Education (MEDU).

  10. Other duties as assigned.


 


What you will bring:




  1. Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education and registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators, or equivalent.

  2. Experience working in a child care setting, with parents, and with community partners.

  3. Experience and sensitivity working with all families including those culturally diverse, LGBTQ, young parents, etc.

  4. Current First Aid/CPR, Safe Food Handling Certificate, N.V.C.I. training, and ECERS, SACERS training.

  5. Driver’s license and a vehicle required
