REGULAR PART TIME REGISTERED NURSE – OPERATING ROOM

 “GROW YOUR OWN” OPPORTUNITY

A “Grow Your Own” opportunity is available for nurses who have an interest in a career within the Operating Room, but do not possess the qualifications.  Financial support will be available to the successful candidate with a return of service agreement.  **Preference through this opportunity will be given first to candidates who possess the PACU certification.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

This regular part-time position will be responsible for comprehensive nursing care within the OR, Endoscopy Suite, Day Surgery, and Recovery Room as established by the standards of nursing practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario and according to policies and procedures as set out by GMCH. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Current certificate of Competence for College of Nurses


• Post Graduate Course in Perioperative Nursing required or for “Grow Your Own”, commitment to successfully complete this program and all placement hours within twelve (12) months of hire date.


• Current BCLS
  


• Current certificate in ACLS & PALS or willingness to obtain within 3 months of hire


• Post Anesthetic Care Nursing certificate/course or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire


• Prepared to work in all areas of Surgical Suite (Operating Room Scrub and Circulating, Endoscopy, Day Surgery, Post Anesthetic Care Unit) on a rotating basis


• BScN an asset


• Membership in RNAO is an asset


• Demonstrated excellent communication skills both verbal and written


• Proven organizational and critical-thinking skills


• Ability to function as an effective interdisciplinary team member


• Ability to assume a leadership/charge role


• Understanding of evidence based practice and standards of Operating Room nursing and Recovery Room Nursing


• Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and willingness to actively participate in departmental educational activities
  


• Satisfactory performance and attendance required


• Satisfactory Reference Checks required prior to start date


• Must provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check


• Must complete a Pre-Employment Health Assessment prior to being hired
  

HOURS:

• Standard Operating Room, PACU, Endoscopy, Day Surgery hours: Mon- Friday as required and a regular monthly minimum rotation of stand by including call backs.
  


• Must be able to respond to on call within a specified timeframe.
  

SALARY:

• $41.15  - $58.98 per hour
