Job Description - Registered Practical Nurse

Position:  Registered Practical Nurse (New Position)


Employment Type:  Full Time Temporary Contract until March 31, 2027 (possibility of extension pending funding)


Salary Range:  $58,662-$64,101


Location:  Northern Clinic (Chapleau & Wawa, ON)

We work with our 11 First Nation community partners and the IFC in the provision of primary health care, traditional healing, mental wellness and addictions, home and community support services, and health promotion services.


The opportunity: The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) is a key member of the Northern Clinic interdisciplinary team providing culturally safe primary care services across the Northern Clinic catchment area and the communities we serve. Working within a collaborative, client-centred care model, the RPN supports preventative care, chronic disease management, well-baby care, immunizations, virtual care, smoking cessation, and foot care, including screening and early intervention for lower limb preservation. This role involves regular travel to communities where services are delivered through community-based clinic days. Success in this role requires flexibility, teamwork, and a commitment to relationship-based care grounded in Indigenous perspectives of health and wellness.


What you need to bring with you:



  • Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

  • Completion of or willingness to complete Advanced Foot Care (asset).

  • 3–5 years of relevant nursing experience, preferably in primary care or community health

  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMRs)

  • Strong communication, conflict resolution, and critical thinking skills

  • Cultural humility and awareness of Anishinabek health and traditional practices

  • Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment

  • Valid Ontario driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation

  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Check

What to expect?


Given the traditional practices of Indigenous people, from time-to-time exposure to smoke from the burning of sacred medicines such as tobacco, sweet grass, sage or cedar may occur.
