Regulatory Lead - Mine Closure

In this role, you will provide regulatory leadership across all phases of mine closure planning, permitting, and environmental compliance, ensuring the project progresses efficiently and in alignment with applicable legislation and stakeholder expectations.

• Lead and coordinate all planning studies, environmental assessments, and permitting activities for a large-scale mine remediation project.


• Serve as the primary regulatory authority across project phases, from early planning through execution and completion.


• Develop and maintain integrated project schedules, including critical path planning for regulatory and permitting milestones.


• Engage and collaborate with government agencies, regulators, Indigenous groups, and local communities to advance approvals and build trust.


• Represent the project in regulatory hearings, community meetings, workshops, and stakeholder engagement sessions.


• Monitor evolving environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks across relevant jurisdictions and translate changes into project implications.


• Conduct senior-level technical reviews of environmental deliverables and ensure alignment with compliance requirements.


• Support risk assessments and contribute to project management decision-making related to environmental and regulatory exposure.


• Promote environmental health, safety compliance, and sustainable remediation practices across all project activities.

Requirements:

This role requires deep expertise in environmental permitting and regulatory systems, particularly within mining, remediation, or large infrastructure contexts, combined with strong stakeholder engagement capabilities.

• 12+ years of experience in environmental permitting, regulatory affairs, or environmental consulting roles.


• Strong knowledge of environmental assessment and licensing regimes, ideally within Yukon, British Columbia, or similar jurisdictions.


• Proven experience working on mining, remediation, or large-scale resource development projects.


• Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with Indigenous communities, government agencies, and multi-stakeholder environments.


• Strong understanding of environmental regulations, impact assessments, and compliance frameworks.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing regulatory documentation and presentations.


• Ability to interpret complex legislation and translate it into actionable project guidance.


• Strong project coordination skills, including experience supporting scheduling, risk management, and cross-functional alignment.


• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
