Family Lawyer - Niagara Region

Our client is an established Ontario law firm seeking an experienced Family Lawyer to help establish and grow its presence in the Niagara Region. The firm is seeing sufficient client demand in the region to support a dedicated lawyer and is looking for someone capable of independently servicing that demand.

This opportunity is particularly well suited to a lawyer who enjoys the autonomy and responsibility of managing their own files but does not want to handle the business and administrative requirements of operating an independent practice.

The position will initially be fully remote, as our client does not currently have a physical office in the Niagara Region.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently manage family-law files from the initial consultation through resolution.

• Advise and represent clients in separation and divorce matters.

• Handle parenting, decision-making responsibility and parenting-time disputes.

• Manage child-support, spousal-support, property-division and equalization matters.

• Address financial disclosure, income determination and complex financial issues.

• Draft and negotiate Separation Agreements, Marriage Contracts and Cohabitation Agreements.

• Prepare pleadings, Financial Statements, affidavits, conference briefs, motion materials and settlement documentation.

• Represent clients at negotiations, mediations, conferences, motions and trials, as appropriate.

• Communicate directly with clients and take responsibility for file strategy, deadlines and client service.

• Help develop the firm’s presence and reputation within the Niagara market.

Qualifications

• Licensed and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.

• Several years of family-law experience.

• Able to independently manage a family-law caseload.

• Strong legal drafting, negotiation, advocacy and client-management skills.

• Sound knowledge of Ontario family law, court procedures and the Family Law Rules.

• Self-directed, dependable and genuinely comfortable working in a fully remote environment.

• Interested in operating independently while remaining part of an established firm.

• Fully remote, with no physical Niagara office initially.
