We are proud of:

The role

Please note, we are only accepting applicants from the provinces of Ontario and Québec for this role. For Québec-based candidates, fluency in English is necessary because the position entails collaboration with teams based in the rest of Americas and occasionally in Europe.

We are seeking a senior, hands-on Lead MDM Engineer with 7 years of deep Stibo STEP experience to work as an embedded lead within the Product Catalog team. This role partners closely with business stakeholders and full-stack engineers to design user workflows, data quality checks, and end-to-end MDM solutions in STEP.

The Lead MDM Engineer owns technical solution design and delivery, including architecture decisions, development planning, hands-on implementation, release execution, and production support.

You will thrive in this role if you are:

  • A collaborator who values teamwork and knowledge-sharing

  • Excited by the intersection of technology, creativity and data

  • Experienced in Agile methodologies and consulting (a plus)

Role responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of Stibo STEP solutions from business discovery and design through development, testing, release, and ongoing support

  • Partner with business stakeholders to design user flows, workflows, and data quality checks supporting product onboarding and enrichment

  • Translate business requirements into STEP data models, hierarchies, workflows, business rules, and validation frameworks

  • Influence technical architecture and integration design for STEP, including REST APIs, event-based patterns, and batch processes

  • Collaborate as an embedded lead with full-stack and Stibo STEP platform engineers to deliver cohesive, end-to-end solutions

  • Create and maintain project and support documentation such as technical design documents, delivery plans, and release notes

  • Provide hands-on STEP development and technical guidance to other engineers

  • Participate in on-call support rotations, triage and resolve production incidents, and perform root cause analysis

  • Troubleshoot and fix defects, data quality issues, integration failures, and performance problems

Must have qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications:

  • 7+ years with Stibo STEP MDM / PIM  solutions with at least 2 full lifecycle implementations of Stibo STEP - including design, configuration, integration, deployment and support

    • Web UI configuration, Business Rules, Workflows, APIs, Data Modeling, and Integration Design

  • Education: Bachelors in Computer Science, Information Technology Systems or related field

  • Certifications: Stibo STEP certifications preferred

  • Technical Skills:

    •  SQL, REST APIs, integration design, exposure to AI/ML concepts

    • Tools: Slack, Jira

  • Retail & Product Domain Knowledge

  • Soft Skills:

    • Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset

    • Ability to speak to non-technical users about complex technical problems

    • Clear verbal and written communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams

    • Collaborate async with a diverse and distributed team

If you do not meet all the listed qualifications or have gaps in your experience, we still encourage you to apply. At Valtech, we recognize that talent comes in many forms, and we value diverse perspectives and a willingness to learn.

The benefits

This is a Full-time position based in Canada. The offered salary range is $100,000 - $150,000 CAD annually, depending on experience and location.

Valtech offers a comprehensive benefits package effective after three months of continuous service:

  • Dialogue via Sun Life provides virtual healthcare services, allowing you to consult with a healthcare professional for emergencies, prescription renewals, and more. You also have access to the Employee and Family Assistance Program, as well as a complete mental health support program.

  • A $500 Personal Spending Account, which can be used for healthcare reimbursements, gym memberships, public transit passes, office supplies, or contributions to your RRSP through Valtech.

  • A retirement plan where Valtech will match 100% of your RRSP contributions through a Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), up to a maximum of 4%. You can start contributing to your RRSP immediately, and to the DPSP after 3 months. The vesting of the DPSP will be after a 24 months of service.

  • Access to a flexible vacation under Valtech's policy to support your work-life balance, with 5 days available during your probation period and a prorated amount calculated for the remainder of the year.

  • Personal Technology Reimbursement – $30/month for every employee-offered on day 1.

  • We close during the winter holidays and offer flexible scheduling throughout the year, so you can enjoy those sunny Friday afternoons—provided your weekly hours are completed.
