The Queen's Space Engineering Team (QSET) is a large multi-disciplinary team consisting of students from all programs within Queen’s University. QSET designs a prototype Mars Rover for participation in the University Rover Challenge (for more information please visit http://urc.marssociety.org/home). The team also designs a Satellite to enter the Canadian Satellite Design Challenge (for more information please visit https://www.csdcms.ca/). The goal for this team is to launch a project into orbit to perform an actual mission in outer space.
The Regulation and Compliance Manager is responsible for managing a team of students tasked with overseeing the legal and regulatory requirements necessary for the launch and operation of the team’s CubeSat, as well as the operation of the rover and drone. This includes working with the Communications managers to secure radio frequency licenses, coordinating with Canadian and international regulatory bodies, and ensuring compliance with remote sensing regulations, communications regulations, Canadian aviation regulations, and any other regulations pursuant to operating a CubeSat in low Earth orbit or operating the rover and drone within Canada and the United States. This position is essential for ensuring each mission meets all national and international regulatory obligations and can legally operate.
