Underground Miner (Remote Scoop Operator)

Alamos Gold’s Young-Davidson is a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada’s largest underground gold mines.  It is located near the town of Matachewan centrally located between Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay and Sudbury, Ontario.  The 2020 completion of a highly automated, lower mine expansion has resulted in Young-Davidson increasing production and generating strong free cash flow. With a large Mineral Reserve base, it will serve as Alamos’ foundation for growth for many years to come. Reporting to the Mine Operations Supervisor (Production), the successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of remote scoop.

Primary Responsibilities:        

• Safely operating LHD equipment;


• Mucking underground ore/waste material;


• Loading haulage trucks;


• Meet the daily productive goals required for the job;


• Must be able to perform preoperational inspections on equipment and operate in an efficient and safe manner; and


• All other duties, as assigned

Qualifications and Experience:

• 3-5 years’ underground experience;


• Accreditation in U/G common core modules and specialty modules;


• Strong Safety focus;


• Self-motivated ability to work alone;


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently;


• Able to read mine plans/drawings; and


• Preferred candidate will possess previous experience operating remote scoop.

Schedule:  10-hour shifts on a 7/7 rotating schedule

Pay or shift range: $33.80 CAD to $41.91 CAD
