About the Tŝilhqot’in National Government



The Tŝilhqot’in National Government (TNG) is the official First Nations government serving the Tŝilhqot'in Nation. TNG is located in Williams Lake, BC and serves the six communities: ʔEsdilagh, Tŝideldel, Yuneŝit'in, Tl'etinqox, Xeni Gwet'in, and Tl'esqox.


 


The Strategic Planning Specialist supports TNG and its initiatives as a key expert in developing, facilitating, analyzing data, and maintaining various planning processes.  This may include Nation’s strategic planning related to social and justice programs, land use planning, gender and youth initiatives, and negotiations.


 


A key aspect of this role will be working with a team to develop sophisticated technical materials, reports, plans and graphics that are of the highest professional quality.


 


Key Responsibilities



  • Lead teams and develop multi-purpose strategies, plans, and approaches.

  • Provide strategic planning expertise to various TNG initiatives that include chiefs, councils, communities and staff.

  • Transform project planning into sophisticated technical materials, reports, and graphics utilizing planning and graphic software.

  • Manage planning processes across various sectors.

  • Research models, strategies and best practices to apply to TNG’s work.



Requirements



  • Master’s degree in planning, or equivalent

  • Proven record of successful working relationships with First Nations

  • Strategic thinker and planner with ability to collect and implement strategies based on input from Tsilhqot’in leadership, councils, teams and community members.

  • Excellent communication skills including public speaking, professional writing and report preparation.

  • Excellent research, analysis and problem-solving skills.

  • Valid BC Driver’s License, ability and willingness to travel to remote communities and travel to meetings outside of the region as required.

  • Flexible work schedule to partake in evening engagement sessions and Nation/community events.

  • Maintain and protect confidential and proprietary information.

  • Able to work collaboratively and build networks internally and externally

  • Proficient with a variety of computer software applications, including Adobe Creative Cloud, Illustrator, Nvivo, Microsoft Office.
