Description

The Wildlife Biologist II will work primarily in their home region but may work on projects in other regions or jurisdictions that share NU populations as directed by the Manager. The incumbent will support and maintain a high quality scientifically sound research program and information base on terrestrial wildlife, including but not limited to; caribou and muskox by managing field logistics and purchasing, managing filed data and sample inventory, administering budgets and financial records, developing and writing research proposals and reports.

Wildlife Biologist II will be required to design, lead and conduct research programs, including ariel surveys, interpret data, present findings, demonstrate and improve the quality of wildlife management studies, assist in the development of policy and provide advice. The incumbent will be required to manage performance, assign projects, identify responsibilities and supervise subordinates. The Wildlife Biologist II is also responsible for designing and conducting research that will identify population boundaries, demographic units, recommend changes to Total Allowable Harvest (TAH) levels, and develop or contribute to management plans.
