Hiring Unit: Department of Biology (Professor Jacalyn Vogel)


Position Summary:

  • Constructs a matrix of wild-type and mutant yeast strains. 
  • Uses methods previously developed in the Vogel lab to measure relative fitness of these strains under normal growth conditions and stress conditions.
  • Uses methods developed in the Vogel lab to analyze spindle positioning phenotypes in these strains under normal growth conditions and stress conditions.
  • Collaborates with the supervisor to conduct comprehensive analyses of datasets and to interpret the resulting findings. 
  • Attends seminars and group meetings.
  • Performs some administrative tasks such as billing external clients.


Qualifications:

  • Demonstrates good judgement and accountability.
  • Team Player.

Education/Experience:

  • MSc degree with at least three years of direct experience with X-ray computed tomography and light microscopy.
  • Lab background in developmental and evolutionary biology.
  • Some knowledge of cell biology.

Location:  This position is located in Montreal, Quebec and the work for this position is expected to be performed in Quebec.

Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing.  The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level # (4) qualifier on a scale of 0-4.
