Resident Attendant (PSW)

Kiwanis Nursing Home is looking for Resident Attendants!

Kiwanis Nursing Home is a compassionate, resident-centered nursing home dedicated to providing the highest quality of care in a supportive, home-like environment. By joining us, you will be joining approximately 150 other caring and amazing staff members in our 100-bed home in Sussex.

We currently have vacancies for Casual Resident Attendants (no guaranteed hours).

Our Resident Attendants are an integral part of our team, and are responsible for the personal care and well-being of our nursing home residents. We are seeking energetic and motivated individuals who passionate about providing person-centered care in a team environment.

Some of what you'll be doing:

• Providing assistance to residents in activities of daily living including, but not limited to, bowel care, bathing, dressing, grooming (shaving, oral care, nail care, etc.);


• Assisting residents at meal times, including tray set-ups. feeding, and supervision;


• Responding to resident call bells;


• Transferring and positioning using proper body mechanics and equipment;


• Collaborating and communicating with other RAs, LPNs, RNs, and/or other departments concerning the resident's needs;


• Maintaining a clean and tidy environment for residents such as cleaning tubs, basins, bedpans, urinals, wheelchairs and other resident equipment;


• Replenishing supplies such as incontinent products, laundry and linen carts;


• Other duties as required by the Case Manager or Director of Nursing.

What we're asking for:

• High school diploma or equivalent;


• Successful completion of an additional course in Personal Support Worker or Health Care Aid Courses, or equivalency;


• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to use these skills with residents, their families, visitors and other team members;


• Ability to take direction and work on a team;


• Physically capable of performing assigned duties;


• Valid CPR Certification;


• Flexibility to work all types of shifts (days, evenings, nights) and on a call-in basis;


• The successful candidate will be required to complete a medical check, vulnerable sector check, and Department of Social Development background check as a condition of employment.
