Pay & Grade: $31.47 - $33.32 (hourly), Grade/Band 6 (under review)

Hours of Work:40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Initial location: Kitchener Operations Facility

Overview

This position performs asphalt-related repairs and maintenance of roads; performs concrete related repairs and maintenance of sidewalks, curbs, catch basins, and manholes.             

Responsibilities

• Roads Maintenance: Work as a Roads Maintainer on an assigned crew during the summer and handle winter maintenance duties as assigned in the winter.
• Asphalt Work: Conduct pre-trip inspections, road repairs, utility cuts, crack sealing, pothole repairs, infrared repairs, and asphalt plant.
• Concrete Work: Perform pre-trip inspections, install and repair sidewalks, curbs, and gutters, repair manholes and catch basins, and perform mud-jacking.
• Snow Removal: Operate single/dual axle dump trucks (tandem) with plow, wing, a variety of salters and anti-icing to remove and haul snow, make salt brine, operate sidewalk plows, and shovel snow.
• Other Duties: Perform additional related tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
• Valid MTO DZ class driver's license in good standing.
• Demonstrated communication skills with an ability to keep accurate written records.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Shift work may be required for winter maintenance activities:
  • available for winter call outs as required.
• Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
