Bell is seeking a Rotor / Drives Analysis Engineer to join the company’s commercial programs working certification and production activities. The Rotor / Drives Analysis Engineer is responsible for stress and fatigueassessments, qualification and certification of complex rotor or drives system components such as: blades, yokes, pitch horns, gearboxes and other supporting components as well as subsystem integration. Furthermore, the Rotor / Drives Analysis Engineer supports the manufacturing, assembly, and validation of these mechanical components. Finally, the Rotor / Drives Analysis Engineer ensures compliance with all best practices, customer, and industry specifications in support of air vehicle performance and safety requirements. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership to a team of rotors / drives analysis engineers, providing technical guidance, mentoring to develop competencies and performing analysis to support program goals
  • Create and / or improve detail, assembly and installation rotor and drive system design definition utilizing FEM software and various analytical tools.
  • Support manufacturing and testing of rotor system components and sub-systems interpreting technical data and assisting in product improvements.
  • Support the definition of testing required to meet component airworthiness requirements and to attain service retirement life definition along with the creation of test plans, support of technicians for test setup and review / analysis of the results.
  • Participate in a cross-functional team environment completing a variety of objectives depending on the program lifecycle assigned including but not limited to support of design decisions and part releases, creation of test objectives based on program requirements, support to flight testing through monitoring of critical parameters and providing input to test plans and the authoring of certification reports with data generated during testing.

Education Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required with preference in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
     

Position Requirements :

  • Multiple levels will be considered for this position with a minimum of 10 years' of Rotorcraft Rotors and/or Drives experience required. 
  • Aerospace industry mechanical engineering analysis of composite and metallic aircraft components such as: blades, yokes, hubs, bearings, shafting, gearboxes, bushings, etc.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with ANSYS is required.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T requirements.
  • Working knowledge of structural analysis using closed form solutions.
  • Proficiency with basic office computer software, specifically the Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and ability to articulate technical data and concepts to a wide audience of individuals of different technical backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize a variety of activities and tasks while dealing with change.
  • Strong analytical ability.
     

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Previous experience as a technical lead in a rotorcraft company
  • Prior experience in aerospace component certification including test plans, component testing, and test reports.
  • Previous experience working on cross functional engineering programs.
  • Previous experience analyzing components to fatigue, damage tolerance and crack growth requirements.
  • Previous experience with ANSYS ACT scripting.

Previous experience with flight test support and analysis.
