The Safety Advisor is responsible for promoting a safe and healthy work environment across the organization. This role involves identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential hazards, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and developing safety programs. The Safety Advisor will work closely with employees, management, and regulatory bodies to ensure workplace safety standards are maintained.
Responsibilities:
Safety Compliance:
Ensure that all safety policies and procedures comply with local, state, provincial and federal regulations.
Conduct regular audits of workplace practices to ensure adherence to safety guidelines.
Prepare reports for regulatory authorities as required.
Risk Assessment:
Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
Recommend and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
Provide recommendations for improving safety practices and systems.
Training and Education:
Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees.
Educate staff on safety best practices, emergency procedures, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Ensure that employees are trained on emergency response protocols.
Provide new hires with orientations
Incident Investigation:
Investigate accidents, injuries, and near misses to identify causes and recommend preventative measures.
Prepare and maintain detailed incident reports.
Monitor the implementation of corrective actions post-incident.
Safety Program Development:
Assist in developing, implementing, and reviewing safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Stay up-to-date on industry trends and safety technologies to implement best practices.
Promote a culture of safety within the organization.
Perform daily inspections and correcting unsafe conditions and at-risk behaviors.
Communication and Reporting:
Maintain open communication channels with management, employees, and safety committees.
Provide regular safety updates to senior management, including trends, incidents, and improvements.
Produce and maintain safety documentation, including safety manuals and compliance records.
Safety and toolbox meetings
Ensure that daily toolbox meetings are being conducted by all crews
Job Skills:
Must hold a valid class 5 license
