Job Description - Sales Representative - Ophthalmic & Optometric - Atlantic Canada Based

Labtician is presently recruiting for an Ophthalmic/Optometric Sales Representative based in Atlantic Canada. This is a new full-time, field-based role to grow both our Surgical and Therapeutic business in Atlantic Canada.

Job Description:

 

The field representative will visit customers to support the growth of our business within Labtician branded, surgical and therapeutic portfolios. The representative will partner with select Optometry practices to enhance a Dry Eye discipline within those practices. The representative will cover targeted accounts, focus on enhancing clinical outcomes in Dry Eye patients while also helping the practice achieve their financial goals.

 

The representative is also responsible for generating top line revenues while maintaining profit margins for our line of ophthalmic medical devices & equipment. The focus areas are: specialty surgeons, hospitals, regional health boards, buying groups and other health professionals. The rep will regularly observe surgery to gain and maintain knowledge of the current medical art, and of the products being used to better support the products. The representative will provide input on our field marketing efforts, maintain personal, telephone and written contact with physicians, hospitals and other potential customers to build relationships and generate sales.

 

The representative will focus on target key accounts and implement account plans that grow the business within those accounts. The successful candidate must have a strong sales focus and consultative selling skills.  

 

Responsibilities:  

 

  • Drive top line sales and margin in the therapeutic and surgical product portfolios
  • Development and execution of Territory Business Plans, including identification of target accounts, based on marketing strategy
  • Foster strong consultative relationships with target accounts and associated staff
  • Conduct regular staff training on diagnostic equipment, Labtician and therapeutic products
  • Builds strong customer relationships with all clients, including: surgeons, nurses, procurement groups & hospital administrators
  • Secures market access for all Labtician products, manufactured and commercialized within the hospital, health authorities, buying groups & private clinics

 

 

Required Skills:

 

  • Resourceful self-starter with a proven track-record of top sales performance with a minimum of one-year B2B selling experience
  • Strong relationship, rapport building, and peer to peer & consultative selling skills
  • Entrepreneurial, creative mindset, and ability to work in a fast-paced, flexible environment.
  • Customer-focused with the ability to develop and maintain relationships
  • Performance-driven, results-oriented mindset with bias for action to drive sales and grow customer base
  • Ability to work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders & Key Opinion Leaders
  • A high level of organization and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication skills - must be fluently bilingual (English and French)

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • B.A. or B.Sc. degree or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Minimum of 1 year of practical experience in sales (ideally at least one year in B2B sales) and preferably in the Optical, Optometric, Pharmaceutical or Medical Device industry. 
  • Proven successful sales experience and ability to:

o  demonstrate top sales performance

o  identify decision makers and influence decisions,

o  manage and prioritize workload, multi-task, manage a diverse mix of issues/challenges,

o  manage budgets, expenses and execute plans,

o  communicate scientific/clinical features and benefits of a product.

  • Flexibility for regional travel is required (~ 35%)
