Northern Society for Domestic Peace (NSDP) is seeking a compassionate and dependable Second Stage Housing Support Worker to join our On Her Way Second Stage Housing program.  This position offers 22.5 hours/week with a comprehensive benefit package. 


The Resident Support Worker provides practical and emotional support to women and their children as they work toward safety, stability, and independent living. Working as part of a supportive team, this position helps residents identify goals, develop individualized service plans, access community resources, and navigate their transition into and out of second-stage housing.



Key Responsibilities



  • Support the screening, intake, orientation, and move-in process for new residents.

  • Provide ongoing practical and emotional support to residents and their children.

  • Assist residents with individualized goals, service plans, and safety needs.

  • Provide advocacy, referrals, and connections to community resources and services.

  • Participate in regular one-on-one meetings with residents.

  • Assist with information sessions, support groups, celebrations, and community-building activities.

  • Support residents in securing independent housing as they transition out of the program.

  • Maintain accurate client files, logs, and other program documentation.

  • Work collaboratively with NSDP staff and community partners.

  • Maintain confidentiality and professional, respectful relationships at all times.



Qualifications


Applicants should have:



  • Grade 12 completion.

  • A degree in a related field and/or a combination of relevant training and experience in social service delivery.

  • Training and/or experience in areas such as crisis management, counselling, safety planning, suicide intervention, and intimate partner violence.

  • The ability to build positive relationships and work collaboratively with community organizations and service providers.

  • Strong communication, teamwork, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • A compassionate, respectful, and non-judgmental approach to supporting women and families.
