Senior Accountant

Pivotal LLP is currently seeking a senior accountant to join our team and we want to invest in you!

• The task performed will include but are not limited to:   
  
  
  
  • Conduct compilation, review, audit and tax engagements  
  
  
  • Prepare financial statements and corresponding notes  
  
  
  • Apply knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (ASPE) and Accounting Standards for Not-For-Profit Organizations (ASNPO) 
  
  
  • Perform analysis of complex accounting issues.  
  
  
  • Perform financial and systems analysis. 
  
  
  • Prepare personal and corporate tax returns (and other tax compliance slips) ensuring compliance with government standards 
  
  
  • Prepare year-end tax forms (T4s and T5s)  
  
  
  • Complete bank and other account reconciliations  
  
  
  • Prepare payroll, GST and government reports  
  
  
  • Respond to client questions and queries  
  
  
  • Identify technical issues and discuss with manager or engagement partner  
  
  
  • Update manager or engagement partner on the progress of engagements  
  
  
  • Prepare professional correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining findings, facts and highlights resulting from the client engagement  
  
  
  • Collaborate with client engagement team prior to commencement of client work  
  
  
  • Set-up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses  
  
  
  • Work with accounting software and provide support to clients  
  
  
  • Assist in streamlining client’s systems 
  
  
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients 
  
  
  • Develop a thorough understanding of Pivotal’s services and the businesses and industries we serve. 
  
  
  • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes  
  
  
  • Lead engagement teams while coaching and mentoring junior team members 
  
  
  • Attend and assist in developing internal courses to further accounting, assurance, and tax knowledge

  • Experience working with, or exposure to, accounting and tax software such as Caseware (and Caseware Cloud), Profile, Taxprep, Quickbooks, Sage and QBO is beneficial  
  
  
  • Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Office 365 
  
  
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience working with Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and Accounting Standards for Not-For-Profit Organizations (ASNPO) with a strong working knowledge of corporate and personal income taxes   
    
    
    
    
    
  
  
  
  

• Required qualifications:
  
  
  
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce or Business Administration 
  
  
  • Completion of Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or working towards a CPA designation 
  
  
  • 2 to 3years of relevant work experience in public practice in Canada
