Andromeda Group – Senior Accountant
Job Description
The Andromeda Group, a division of Constellation Software (TSX:CSU), is seeking a Senior Accountant to work in a hybrid role, two to three days a week, in the Markham, Ontario office. This role offers meaningful exposure to IFRS, financial close, and cross‑functional collaboration, and is well-suited for a high‑performing accountant looking to deepen their technical expertise while adding value beyond core payroll accounting. The successful candidate will own key aspects of the payroll accounting process and support broader financial reporting and IFRS analysis.

Key Responsibilities
Prepare the CAD and USD payroll journal entries utilizing the Great Plains import function
Ensure the month-end hourly compensation accrual is calculated and recorded
Coordinate the month-end salary cross-charge of resources to various departments and business units, such as M&A departments
Calculate the CAD and USD benefit allocations and ensure the allocated amounts reconcile
Ensure all CAD and USD payroll-related remittances & invoices are allocated to business units such as Workers Compensation, BC EHT, and ADP Tax.
Perform the calculation, journal entry preparation, reconciliations, and variance analysis on key payroll-related processes (salary and hourly wages), benefits, and payroll taxes, as well as provide information to management on reporting for quarterly strategic reviews
Support supplemental IFRS assessments, documentation, and audit inquiries as required.
Apply professional judgment when evaluating accounting treatments and identifying areas that require further analysis or consultation.
Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and documentation.
Technical and Educational Qualifications
A university degree in Finance and Accounting or equivalent experience is preferred.
CPA strongly preferred.
Experience with working on payroll accounting in a complex matrixed organization.
Ability to manage and prioritize competing deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
Superior verbal and written communication, presentation, and analytical skills, with the ability to drive useful business insights, ability to think outside the box
Strong business acumen, with an ability to focus on continuous improvement
Ability to be a self-starter, proactive, and be able to work independently while navigating ambiguity and putting structure to ambiguous problems and seeing them through to solutions
Strong understanding of IFRS and financial reporting concepts, with the ability to apply professional judgment and prepare well‑supported accounting analyses and documentation.
Advanced Microsoft Office skills (specifically Advanced Microsoft Excel skills)
Experience working with offshore teams is a plus.
Experience working with Great Plains (transitioning to a new ERP) and ADP is a plus.

Salary Range (Ontario & BC Only):
The estimated base salary range for this role is CAD$67,500.00 - CAD$82,500.00 per year.
