Primary Purpose of Position



Sinopec Canada has an opportunity for a Senior Asset Integrity Technologist to join the Asset Integrity team. Reporting to the Manager, Facilities & Asset Integrity, the Senior Asset Integrity Technologist will be responsible for ensuring the safe operation of Sinopec Canada’s pressure equipment and pipelines. This position is based in either the Drayton Valley or Warburg office.



Roles and Responsibilities




  • Identify integrity threats and provide mitigation strategies on pressure equipment and pipelines.

  • Work with other Asset Integrity team members, Production Operations and Engineering, and Facilities team on corrosion control and monitoring programs.

  • Perform field inspections of pressure equipment and pipelines.

  • Develop repair procedures and manage field repair work.

  • Plan and coordinate vendors to perform integrity related inspections and testing. This includes but not limited to visual inspections, non-destructive examinations, pipeline right-of-way surveillance, corrosion monitoring devices, chemical inhibition, cathodic protection, and in-line inspections.

  • Review inspection reports, ensure all the pressure equipment inspections are complete and compliant with Regulatory requirements.

  • Support the development and maintenance of the Pressure Equipment and Pipeline Integrity Management Systems.

  • Conduct pipeline risk assessments.

  • Support internal and external audits.



Position Knowledge, Skills, and Experience




  • Experience in performing field inspections of pressure equipment and pipelines.

  • Experience with preventative maintenance and upstream oil & gas processing would be considered an asset.

  • Thorough understanding of:

    • Identifying corrosion and damage mechanisms;

    • Corrosion prevention methods;

    • Non-destructive examination techniques and applications;

    • Pipeline risk assessment strategies;

    • Upstream oil & gas production.



  • Working knowledge in Regulatory requirements (ABSA and AER), ASME codes, and CSA standards.

  • Experience in planning and scheduling inspections of pressure equipment, safety devices, storage tanks, and pipeline in-line inspections.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills, and strong computer skills including MS Word and MS Excel.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work in a multi-discipline team.

  • Demonstrates the ability to work together, drive the business, and lead effectively.

  • Displays a high-level of integrity in all actions, complying with and promoting the company’s core values, a respectful work environment, and aligning with the code of business conduct.

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and operate effectively in a diverse and multi-cultural environment.


 


Qualifications




  • 10+ years of related experience, candidates with less experience may be considered.

  • Certified Engineering Technologist (other certifications will be considered).

  • Certification in the following are considered assets:

    • API 510/570/653 and/or National Board Commission;

    • In-Service Pressure Equipment Inspector;

    • NACE Corrosion Technologist;

    • Non-Destructive Examination (CGSB).



  • Valid Class 5 Alberta drivers license with good driving record.

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
