The goal was simple: provide innovative and pragmatic solutions to help our clients build our communities. Forty years later, we are now one of the largest and most respected independent engineering firms in Western Canada. Clifton is continuing to grow and develop new markets.

At Clifton, you become part of a professional community that thrives on the contributions of junior and seasoned team members alike. Seasoned experts invest heavily in junior members, mentoring them in both the technical and non-technical aspects of their role, helping them to advance their careers. Our new team members bring fresh ideas and contribute to the multiple perspectives from which we view challenges. This promotes the innovation and agility that keeps us thriving.

We value our people and encourage work-life harmony. We offer a compensation package with a competitive salary, a pension plan, health benefits, and one of the most comprehensive employee assistance programs in the industry.

Clifton is currently seeking a Senior Biologist to join our Regina, or Saskatoon office.

As a Senior Biologist, you will be a reliable, knowledgeable, and valued member of our Environmental practice team. You will focus on providing senior technical oversight on environmental projects, mentoring intermediate and junior level engineers, and managing projects.

  • Provide advice and guidance on environmental management as well as environmental compliance issues.

  • Effectively manage projects, including management of subcontractors, progress, budget, schedule and quality.

  • Lead, develop, and mentor other biology professionals to promote a high level of technical competence and create an environment of continuous improvement and learning.

  • Drive business development initiatives for the Environment team by building, maintaining and nurturing client relationships, regularly monitoring to ensure clients requirements are met, leading proposal pursuits, and actively develop opportunities for growth within your area of practice.

  • Adhere to Clifton’s Health and Safety and Quality Management programs in project delivery.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, or Environment from a recognized college or university.

  • A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant progressive environmental experience including survey, environmental impact assessment and permitting, and construction environmental management experience.

  • Registered (or eligible for registration) as a Professional Biologist in Alberta (PBio) or BC (RPBio).

  • Familiarity and demonstrated experience with species detection survey protocols and environmental assessment processes in Saskatchewan.

  • Experience in Alberta would be an asset.

  • Strong organizational skills, including effective management of multiple and conflicting priorities with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, in the context of work/life balance.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of products.

  • Ability to work independently on site, outside and in remote locations for periods of time, tolerating variable weather conditions.

  • Provide reliable, value-added service to our clients with continual improvement.

  • Contribute to a positive work environment, conducting oneself in a professional and ethical manner.

  • Must have valid Class 5 Driver’s License and provide a clean Driver’s Abstract.
