Senior Bookkeeper

The Fifteen Group is a dynamic, collaborative, boutique bookkeeping and consulting firm that works exclusively with restaurants. We are looking for bookkeepers at all levels of experience to join our team. You will have the chance to learn about the inner workings of some of the best restaurants in Toronto all while polishing your skills and learning new ones.

It’s important that you have confidence communicating with clients as well as a good working knowledge of QuickBooks, Excel and the Microsoft Office suite of programs. Collaboration with and coaching of junior bookkeepers is vital as is on-going training and development.

Our office operates entirely in-person on Richmond St right in the heart of downtown Toronto, close to lots of amenities and easy to reach by TTC.

The Senior Bookkeeper will oversee a group of clients in our Toronto office. The role is to ensure financial information is presented in an accurate and timely manner for both period-end and year-end reporting. You will ensure day-to-day accounting functions are completed including accounts receivable, accounts payable, sales reporting payroll and expenses. You will report directly to the Accounting Supervisor, Manager of Restaurant Accounting, and the VP.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee the period-end closing process to ensure the client’s financial information is accurate and completed within the timeline set by the President and Manager of Restaurant Accounting


• Complete month-end duties such as bank and credit card reconciliations, accounts payable and cheque runs


• Act as primary contact for any vendor enquiries


• Execute all payroll related functions including processing payroll, issuing pay cheques, calculating source deductions, vacation pay, ROEs and T4s. Respond to and resolve any payroll issues for clients


• Calculation and filing of government remittances (HST, EHT, WSIB, payroll deductions)


• Preparation of year-end packages for external accountants (trial balance, adjusting entries, reconciling accounts)


• Assist with any external legal or accounting requests.


• Maintain frequent and friendly communication with clients in responding to questions, concerns and requests

Qualifications

• University degree or college diploma in Finance or Accounting


• 3+ years of full-cycle accounting experience


• Prior restaurant or retail experience is a valuable asset

Knowledge and Skills

• Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP


• Excellent oral and written communication skills


• Strong skills in Microsoft Suite software (Excel, Outlook etc)


• Advanced experience with QuickBooks Online and Desktop

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
