Risk Control Consultant
Our Marsh Risk Consulting team supporting our western Canadian clients is looking for a dynamic consultant with a strong technical background to provide risk consulting services to clients, and to drive a strategic, comprehensive risk management discussion.

The candidate will be a skilled Risk Control Consultant that provides property &machinery risk advice to a wide variety of industrial clients including mining, power, energy, and forestry.

We will count on you for the following responsibilities:
Client Service:
- Work with Client Risk Managers, Facility Operations Managers and Marsh client service teams in designing and implementing property risk control programs and procedures.
- Conduct field visits to evaluate property and business interruption exposures and prepare comprehensive findings reports to support client risk management programs and insurance placements.
- Liaise with clients and their insurers to establish mutual beneficial objectives and provide alternative risk control solutions where necessary.
- Review and assist clients in property and casualty risk identification, quantification, and mitigation. Provide specific technical risk control resource support to clients as required.
- Liaise with insurers, Marsh client team members, claims, and outside consultants.
- Perform peer reviews and monitors client satisfaction of deliverables and services.
Project Management:
- Act as project manager for all related risk control activity for Marsh clients.
- Lead client implementation teams.
- Develop client specific risk control key performance indicators, and direct measurement of results.
- Follow, promote, and facilitate the adoption of continuous risk improvement methodologies.
- Suggest, develop, and apply objective criteria for measuring important processes.
- Review and enhance suggested new ways and/or formulate new approaches of applying risk control processes and technologies.
- Develop project pricing, secure appropriate selection of resources & manage profitable project budgets. Develop and secure client service agreements.
- Comply with company policies and procedures for timekeeping, expense reporting, and billing.
Client Development:
- Connect loss control strategies and successes to client economic success.
- Participate and support new and expanded business opportunities.
- Coordinate business development activities (e.g. seminars, mailings, etc.).
- Direct, perform, or review research (e.g. review annual report, financial data, benchmarking, etc.) in support of business development purposes.
- Utilize and develop spheres of influence to develop new and expanded business.
What you need to have:
- Engineering or equivalent degree
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in property risk control consulting is preferred
- Knowledge of risk control and safety procedures, including but not limited to NFPA Fire Codes, FM Global engineering standards, Federal and Provincial Fire and Building Codes
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills and ability to synthesize complex messages into simplified content.
- Highly developed analytical skills
- Experience in mining, power, energy, and forestry would all be assets
- Remote work is available, but must be able to travel to the Vancouver and Calgary offices for client meetings (typically twice per month)
- Holds appropriate licensing (CRM, P. Eng or CET)

Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which their full team will be together in person.
The applicable base salary range for this role is $75,600 to $167,700.
The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
