As Senior Director, Financial and Actuarial Services, U.S. Life Insurance, you will directly contribute to defining and executing the financial and actuarial strategies of U.S. operations, in partnership with the executive team.


You will be a key driver of value creation, influencing major business decisions in a dynamic, complex, and evolving environment. This role will allow you to leverage your expertise in a setting where ambition, collaboration, and excellence guide every initiative.

What you will accomplish with us

As Senior Director, Financial and Actuarial Services, U.S. Life Insurance, you will be at the heart of our mission. Here are your key responsibilities:

  • Advise the executive team on the sector’s financial, strategic, and operational priorities.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the strategic plan, including growth, profitability, and financial optimization for the U.S. Life Insurance sector.
  • Initiate and lead value creation initiatives through financial engineering (reinsurance, capital optimization, accounting and actuarial methods, tax strategies).
  • Ensure the complete, accurate, and timely delivery of all financial reporting required by the CFO function and the U.S. Life Insurance sector, including financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and performance analyses.
  • Support the exploration of new strategic markets for the U.S. Life Insurance sector, with a focus on organic and inorganic growth (acquisitions); oversee financial models for due diligence processes and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Implement strategies required to maintain or improve ratings from rating agencies, including proactive management of U.S. regulatory capital.
  • Lead, engage, and develop a high-performing, multidisciplinary finance organization aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Oversee the work of the U.S. Appointed Actuary and ensure delivery of actuarial statutory requirements across U.S. jurisdictions, including compliance with U.S. requirements (PBR, cash-flow testing, etc.) and reporting to the U.S. Board of Directors.
  • Establish practices that foster high performance, accountability, continuous improvement, and the sharing of financial expertise and North American best practices.

  • Is recognized for their strategic vision and strong business acumen
  • Stands out for their ability to explore new markets and thrive in an acquisition-driven environment
  • Demonstrates strong communication and collaboration skills with various business partners
  • Is known for their influential leadership as a strategic business partner
  • Has 10 or more years of experience in senior financial leadership roles
  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science or a related field (MBA, FSA designation, or a master’s degree is an asset)
  • Possesses an advanced level of English proficiency, as the role involves regular communication with internal and external English-speaking partners across Canada and the United States
