Job Description - Senior Electrician - Food Manufacturing

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in improving overall efficiencies through effective mechanical, electrical and instrumentation troubleshooting and repair.
  • Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment, such as conveyors, and programmable controllers, following electrical code and blueprints, using hand tools and voltage tester.
  • Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment, following manuals, schematic diagrams, and blueprints, using hand tools and test equipment.
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus, such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures, using test equipment, and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables, using hand tools.
  • Tests malfunctioning machinery, using test equipment, and discusses malfunction with other maintenance workers.
  • Replaces faulty electrical components of machine, such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sensing devices, using hand tools.
  • Replaces electric motor bearings and rewires motors.
  • Operate equipment equipped with programmable controllers to program automated machinery, such as robots & automated machinery. Test for malfunctions, and verify repairs.
  • Plan layout of wiring and install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings as needed.

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Electrician License: 442a or 309a
  • Solid track record in the food manufacturing industry
  • Excellent customer service skills such as problem solving, timeliness, and follow up.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of maintenance principles and practices and have the interpersonal and technical skills necessary to repair mechanical, electrical and instrumentation problems in a positive and professional manner.
  • Must be able to react to machinery breakdowns and equipment problems in a proficient and positive manner.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with project engineers to ensure that all packaging projects meet packaging technical objectives.
  • Positive attitude and be self-motivated. He/she must be willing to work in all facets of the mechanical, electrical and instrumentation arena so as to upgrade his/her overall skill base.
